President of Greno Industries: Manufacturing Is In My Blood

Eileen Guarino, President of Greno Industries, a family owned business since 1961.

Thinking back on my 30 years at Greno Industries, where I spent my time working and learning, many different positions, before becoming president in 2004 – I realized that my family has manufacturing in its blood.

Vince Guarino and his daughter Eileen Guarino at the family owned Greno Industries.

My father, Vince Guarino, founded the company in 1961, and hired many great employees including family members over the decades. I believe my dad has been the greatest influence in my life.  Bringing me into his company has not only tought me to work with employees, clients and family, but how to handle the daily issues that come with management. Owning a business is not easy, nor is it for everyone.

Vince Gaurino is now 92 years old and no longer part of the day to day decisions at Greno Industries, but his management process is still the basis for moving the company forward. The company DNA was set in those early years and I still use his business philosophy for business decisions to this day.

Over the past two decades I feel I have guided Greno Industries through the process of diversifying from the power generations industry, to a broad range of of work including, aerospace, military, automative, and medical industries.

A decades long process that has driven Greno to bring in new technology, enabling us to create a smoother workflow, increase productivity, and lower production costs. At the same time, we continue to hire the best employees and pay the wages needed to keep them on staff. it is a balancing act to keep the plates all spinning.

From a high level view we have totally reimagined, restructured and upgraded our capabilities in the last ten years and expanded our market reach into many industries.

Owning a manufacturing business is exhilarating and exhausting, over time it becomes part of your personality. Everyday includes dealing with business related problems, and then getting up and starting all over again. It becomes emotionally taxing, yet rewarding in so many other ways. I find comfort in the fact that each decision I make is based on what I have learned from the individuals who founded this company, including my father Vince Guarino.
