Extreme Material Removal Creating Clevis for Power Generation

Our latest project at Greno Industries,  we removed 673 lbs of material from the ASTM a193 B16 slug, reducing the original weight from 1,093 lbs down to 420 lbs.

Precision machining parts that will be subjected to high levels of stress and torque is a specialty at Greno Industries. Extreme material removal is often necessary when machining these types of parts. In the case of this “clevis” for the power generation market, we began turning a 15″ diameter X 21.75″ long blank on our Okuma LU7000 horizontal lathe. After the horizontal turning, we moved the unfinished product to one of our Mazak FH880 horizontal mills, married to a Palletech system.
